Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get there, and where can I park?

The picnic is located in the Boston Common, the nation's oldest public park. You can find us behind the Visitors Center, which can be found on most map applications.

DRIVING: The Boston Common is a pedestrian-only park. If you plan to drive, the closest and most convenient parking is the Boston Common Garage (Zero Charles St.), which sits directly beneath the Common. From there, it's a short walk to the picnic spot. Street parking is limited and often metered with time restrictions, so garage parking is recommended. Other garages nearby are: Lafayette Garage, City Place Garage, One Beacon Parking, and Center Plaza Garage.

PUBLIC TRANSIT: Take the MBTA to either Park Street or Boylston Station. Both stations place you at the edge of Boston Common.

What should I bring?

You are encouraged to bring your own food and beverage! There are also plenty of nearby food spots if you'd rather pick something up. Don't forget to bring a blanket or something to sit on, and pack sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat to stay comfortable in the sun. Napkins, trash bags, and hand sanitizer are also handy to have!

Do I need to wear a fursuit to attend?

Not at all! While fursuits are welcome, many attendees come without them. The picnic is open to everyone interested in and/or adjacent to the furry community.

Where are the closest bathrooms?

There are bathrooms available at the Frog Pond building, and various porta potties around.

Can I take photos at the event?

Yes, photography is welcome! Just be sure to ask for permission before taking photos of other attendees. Some folks may prefer not to be photographed. There will be a group photo for everyone at 1:30pm. If you share your photos online, feel free to use the hashtag #BostonFurryPicnic so others can find and enjoy them too!

Any other things I should know?

Please consult both our Code of Conduct and the Park Rules and Regulations for the Boston Common.
